Eggscellent Easter activities for families
There are plenty of activities to keep your kids entertained this Easter. Of course the Sydney Royal Easter Show is back, and to ensure a great day out for all, I highly recommend planning such days out in advance. Come up with a reasonable budget, so that way your child/children will know how many showbags they're allowed at the show, and which rides they can go on without breaking the family budget. Aside from the entry fee, there are many events for kids at this year's Easter show that are included in the entry price:
Hoopla Darling Harbour
ABOUT HOOPLA AND DARLING HARBOUR
1. What is Hoopla and who produces it?Hoopla is Australia's annual circus, sideshow and street theatre festival at Darling Harbour. The four day festival brings together a world class mix of Australian and international performers and showcases a wide variety of theatrical genres to appeal to diverse audiences.
Hoopla is produced by Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority.
2. Will there be fireworks?No. There will be no fireworks during the Hoopla Festival and no Harbourside Fireworks on the Saturday night.
3. Can I buy food and drinks during the event?A number of food and beverage venues, including takeaway outlets, cafes and restaurants throughout Darling Harbour, will be open during the event. Find out more about places to eat and drink in Darling Harbour.
4. Is alcohol permitted at the event?Please note that Darling Harbour is an alcohol-free area and alcoholic beverages can only be consumed in licensed areas. There are numerous bars at Darling Harbour where you can enjoy the entertainment. Find out more about bars in Darling Harbour.
6. What happens if it rains?The event will proceed as per the advertised program as there are a number of indoor venues. In the unlikely event of a performance being cancelled due to performer or public safety, an announcement will be made at the location of the performance.
7. What time does the event start?The entertainment will run from 12 noon to 9.40pm on Friday 29 March, Saturday 30 March and Sunday 31 March and from 12 noon until 5.45pm on Monday 1 April.
There are seven main venues for the 2013 event:
- Big Top: Located on the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre forecourt
- Ringside: Located in Palm Grove
- Street Performers' Pitch: Located at Harbourside Amphitheatre, along the promenade outside Harbourside Shopping Centre (near Pyrmont Bridge)
- Tiny Top: Located on the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre forecourt
- Out of the Box: Located at the front of Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre
- Castello: Located on the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre forecourt
- Circusworks: Located in Darling Quarter near Tumbalong Park

PURCHASING TICKETS FOR HOOPLA
1. How do I purchase tickets?Visit darlingharbour.com, click 'Buy Tickets' on the Hoopla event you want to attend and follow the on-screen instructions. Tickets can also be purchased from the Box Offices on the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre forecourt on each day of the Hoopla Festival from 10.30am.
2. How much are tickets?The ticket prices for this year's Hoopla Festival range from $5 to $25. All ticket prices are listed on darlingharbour.com.
3. How can I pay for my tickets?We accept Visa and MasterCard. Please note that there is a 2% merchant service fee (on credit card purchases), plus a 15 cent booking fee per transaction.
Cash payment is also available at the festival Box Office.
4. How do I get a receipt for my ticket purchase?Following your ticket purchase, you will receive an email confirmation which will include a receipt for your purchase.
5. How do I keep track of my transaction?All details of the transaction will be included in your email receipt.
6. Who is Ticketserv?Ticketserv is the ticketing services company engaged by Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, the producer of the event. Your credit card statement will list Ticketserv as the merchant you purchased the ticket through.
7. Do children under 13 still need a ticket?Yes. All indoor events (including Big Top, Castello and Tiny Top) require a ticket for all patrons, including children under 13 who are admitted free. All children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Click 'Buy Now'on the event you would like to purchase tickets for and follow the prompts.
9. Is there a time limit when purchasing tickets online?Yes. Once you have begun the purchase process, your tickets will be held for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes you will be asked if you need more time to complete your transaction.
10. Is there a limit to the number of tickets I can purchase online?Ticket limits may vary depending on the event. There are limits to the number of children any one adult can book per show, as follows:
Maximum of four (4) children per one (1) adult.
11. If I forget to select a ticket for a child under 13 when I purchase an adult ticket, can I order a child's ticket separately?No, all subsequent children's tickets outside of adult purchase transactions will need to be organised with the Box Office at the event.
12. Can I cancel my ticket purchase?Once your transaction is complete, it cannot be cancelled. Purchased tickets cannot be exchanged and any payment made is non-refundable.
13. Are there student/pensioner discounts?No. We aim to keep our festival tickets prices as low as possible for everyone.
14. How can I seek assistance when purchasing tickets for Hoopla on darlingharbour.com?Email us at tickets@darlingharbour.com.
15. What do I do if I don't receive my tickets via email?If you have not received your email and attachments, including your tickets and receipt, check your spam or junk folder. If you still cannot locate your tickets, contact tickets@darlingharbour.com.
16. Is my online purchase secure?Yes. Several unique security features are in place throughout the purchase process, including a complete security payment process with a customised payment 'vault' system.

1. How do I present my email ticket at the event venue?Print the PDF attachment received via email on a white A4 sheet of paper and present it to door staff. They will scan the unique barcode to allow entry. One ticket is required for each person booked. For example, if there are five (5) people in your party, you will need to print one of each of the five PDF attachments you will have received.
2. How can I find out more about the event?Log on to www.darlingharbour.com/hoopla on a regular basis to check for event updates.
3. If I am unable to attend the event, can I get a refund on my purchased tickets?No. All sales are final and any payment made is non-refundable.
4. What happens if an event is cancelled or postponed?Hoopla is an all-weather event and the festival will continue even if it rains. In the unlikely event of a performance being cancelled due to performer or public safety, an announcement will be made at the location of the performance.

Cartoon Characters
Many favourite cartoon characters are coming to life, and these events will be held at the Big Top Amphitheatre: Moshi Monsters Music, Madagascar 3 Circus Workshop, The Lorax and Bananas in Pyjamas. Furthermore, meet and greet sessions will be available with the following cartoon characters in Kids World at the show: Puss in Boots, Shaun the Sheep, Alvin The Chipmunks and Digitalgirlworld.
Kids Carnival
Parents, your chance to also have fun and race with your kids down the popular rainbow super slide. For those who are adrenalin focused, the Jurassic Coaster will purport a fantastic adventure.
The Animals
Pony rides will be available, and your child/children will also enjoy animal activities, including watching sheep being sheared to cows being milked at the Easter show. The Sunday Telegraph Animal Walk is an absolute must, and a free activity book is available for pre-school and primary school aged children to complete during this walk.
Furthermore, if you would like your child to learn where our food comes from, and to try their hand at some cooking, then the Food Farm will be fun and interactive, from pastry rolling and egg collecting.

Those home based Easter egg hunts are super cool, however a public hunt is held at Vaucluse House and Elizabeth Farm. In addition to Easter egg hunting, the kids of Sydney will also have a chance to decorate and paint some Easter eggs. Other fun games will also be available. Recommended for ages 3 . Organisers urge families to wear a hat and bring some sunscreen. Entry is $15 per child, including one adult. $8 extra for another adult to attend. Further information can be found by clicking here. Sydney Family Show
An Easter friendly and kid friendly event held at the Entertainment Quarter at Moore Park from the 22nd of March to the 1st of April 2013. Pony Rides, Lego, games and rides will be available for all kids to enjoy. This event also includes an animal nursery and a dinosaur exhibition. Do you want your child to learn how to make Chocolate Easter Eggs?
If you do, and you fancy some pampering yourself, then head to the Park Hyatt hotel on Saturday the 23 March 2013 from 9am to 1pm for Sydney's first Easter cooking class. Each child will learn how to perfect the art of cooking chocolate, and Easter egg painting will also be provided. All meals included. Prices: $65 per child, $75 per adult.
