Surprising, whimsical and a whole lot of fun for no apparent reason.

Internationally-acclaimed artist Florentijn Hofman isn't high-brow or elitist when it comes to his urban sculptures - he wants to astonish audiences and give them a new perspective on public spaces. His sculptures are big, very big, and Rubber Duck is no exception.

Hofman takes great care in finding a suitable habitat for his larger-than-life works. Rubber Duck, he says, doesn't discriminate and has no political connotation. "It relieves everyday tensions, as well as defining them. Its purpose is to do no more than amaze."

The bright yellow inflatable is five storeys high and five storeys wide and has been popping up in various cities around the world since 2007.

Justin will stand alongside Rihanna, Kylie Minogue and Michael Jackson in the music zone at Madame Tussauds Sydney. Bieber has sold over 15 million albums worldwide and has over 35 million twitter followers. It is this unparalleled popularity that sees him already feature in six Madame Tussauds attractions across the globe. The Sydney Justin Bieber figure represents the star’s most up-to-date look, depicting his most recent hair style and fashion choices. It took a team of 60 Madame Tussauds’ sculptors and artists over 800 hours to master the seventh wax figure of Justin Bieber. When the original sitting took place in 2010, members of the team flew to the teen idol in Nashville to take a series of hundreds of measurements to make sure that everything would be as lifelike as possible for his dedicated army of fans. Special attention was paid to Bieber’s infamous hairstyle with each strand inserted one-by-one. Now, seven figures later, no other Madame Tussauds venue features Bieber with his new hairstyle – a style that told the world he was now ready to be treated as an adult. “We know that Justin Bieber has a loyal fan base that will expect to see only the most lifelike wax replica. They have insisted on a wax figure of the pop star and our team have had to ensure that they only produced the best. We are thrilled with the results as are the entire Bieber camp,” said Hywel Mathias, General Manager at Madame Tussauds Sydney. “We are all really excited to see what the fans think of this modern version of Justin. I’m confident that they will be blown away.” Justin’s brown eyes were made by hand to ensure the shade was just right; the irises were hand painted on to a fibreglass eyeball and red silk thread then added to ensure the finished product is completely lifelike. Madame Tussauds Sydney is the 13th Madame Tussauds in the world and the fifth in Asia Pacific - joining its highly successful sister attractions in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Bangkok. Sydney sizzles in summer with some free arts events

The annual Sydney Festival boasts a number of high quality cultural and arts events in Sydney, ensuring that our summer periods sizzle. Dance, visual arts, comedy, theatre and musicals to name a few are on show. Some of the best artists will take to the Sydney stage to bring out some sparkle and shine.As there is so much going on from the 5th to the 27th of January 2013, this article is designed to show you some of the highlights of what to expect as part of the line up for the Sydney Festival in 2013.

Firstly, Semele Walk will be held from the 11th to the 15th of January 2013. This is where highly respected fashion designer Vivienne Westwood and Kaleidoskop meet in an ensemble together. Her costumes adapt to the likes of Hendel's Semele. A highly anticipated opera musical event, which will be held at the Sydney Town Hall. For a more Latin style groove, then URBAN will be your cup of tea. If you don't go out very often and you want an electrifying entertainment experience, then this high-voltage energy of Circolombia will delight you. One crew that has also made a great name for themselves at Broadway.

Now you might be asking yourself, what about Hyde Park's Honda Festival Garden? Glad you asked. Sydney bars, run scared. Why? This oasis will stake its name as a great 'after work drinks' destination in tandem with a great night to enjoy some musical delights. Some theatrical delights could also be on the cards. If you loved the Night Noodle Markets as part of the Crave Sydney International Food Festival, then you will love this garden set up for the Sydney Festival. If you don't want the night to end, then some nightclubbing action will be available: a combination of free and ticketed events. After 5pm, this is an adults only establishment. Sydney Town Hall becomes paradise - welcome to the Sydney Town Hall Paradiso, where you will find contemporary dance tunes. Looking forward to the (pop-up) Paradiso Bar on the terrace where entry is free - it is great way for some pre-show nibbles and drinks. Some events are free. Hint: any picnic events going on the Domain, and an event with a rubber duck on opening day. While for other events you need a ticket, and tickets can be purchased online as well as a various ticketing booths in and around the city. In in doubt, ticket booths are always at Martin Place.
